Windows 7 in 2010

Windows 7 migrations…Yeah, yeah, yeah – what a boring topic. Be that as it may, boring doesn’t mean unimportant. If you’re going to move forward with Windows 7, you might as well take the time to do it right. If that’s not enough incentive how about this: Time management experts have found that one minute in planning can save 5 minutes in execution. Now that’s some ROI you can bank on!

But where do you start with Windows 7 migrations? As I wrote in a previous post, Microsoft has their own toolkits.  However, before you even go down that path, TechTarget has several good resources on the subject worth checking out. Here’s the rundown:

Migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 – Part 1, Weighing the options

Migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 – Part 2, The experts weigh in

Moving from Windows XP to Windows 7? One CIO shares why he started now.

Finally, here’s a piece I wrote last summer on why it’s important to lock down XP before moving to Windows 7:

Secure Windows XP before a Windows 7 Upgrade

Sure, these topics aren’t all that glamorous but they sure can help you set yourself and your business up for success with your Windows 7 migration efforts.
